Taichi Practice

Fall 2018

1. Mahjong Table: Tuesday, September 18th, 5:00-7:00pm Located at Hatfield’s in the Mountainlair. Join us to learn to play this traditional Chinese game and challenge your friends.

2. Chinese Cooking Competition: Saturday, September 29th, 2:00-4:00pm A new event this year, join us at E Moore Hall for this fun competition. Enter a dish or come and taste delicious food! More information, Please click HERE for more information.

3. Chinese Movie: Thursday, October 18th, 4:30-6:30pm Join us in the Downtown Library Room 104 to watch a movie thoughtfully selected by our advisor 林老师 for its clear, modern Mandarin and engaging plot.

4. Chinese Jian Zi Tournament: Thursday, November 15th, 11:00a-2:00pm Join us just inside the Mountainlair for a fun game of Jian Zi. Similar to the American hacky-sack game, come learn the rules and play for a chance to win prizes.

Spring 2018

1. Chinese New Year Celebration - 4:30-6:30pm Sunday, February 11th at Lair Ballroom.
Hail in the Lunar New Year with hundreds of Chinese people. Come practice your Chinese, eat Chinese food, and watch the amusing performances. 

2. Red Envelope Giveaway - 11:30am-1:00pm Tuesday, February 20th at Lair Lobby.
In celebration of the Chinese New Year, we will be donning traditional attire and handing out red envelopes with ancient Chinese coins inside to students willing to try their hand at saying 新年好！ 

3. Chinese Dumpling Party - 5:00-7:00pm Tuesday, February 20th at E Moore Hall.
Always a Chinese Club and personal favorite, come experience cooking the culinary masterpiece that is the Chinese dumpling.  

4. Chinese Movie - 4:30-6:00 Wednesday, March 7th at Main Library Rm 104. (Reign of Assassins)
Carefully selected by 林老师， the Chinese movie is always one that you will want to watch again and again. 

5. Calligraphy Workshop/Officers Election - 5:00-6:30pm Monday, April 9th at WDB G21
Come make a beautiful work of calligraphy on rice paper with your choice of font style. Be there to run in the officer election and vote for your 2018-2019 leadership. 

6. Chinese Capstone Presentation - 3:30-5:30pm Friday, April 27th at MHH 122.
Come learn about Chinese critical issues and cultural topics from students graduating from the Chinese Studies program. 

7. End of Semester Gathering - 5:30-7:30pm, Friday, April 27th at E Moore Hall.
Join friends and classmates to celebrate the end of another semester together.

  2. Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration - Saturday, Sept. 30, 7:30 - 9:30pm, HSC Auditorium
  3. Chinese Movie - Thursday, Oct. 12, 5:30 - 7:30pm, Library Room 104 - Modern Chinese Romantic Drama "Finding Mr. Right" (北京遇上西雅图) 
  4. Chinese Martial Arts Workshop - Wednesday, Nov. 8, 4:40 - 6:30pm, Lair Ballroom 
  5. Language Partner Get-together - Tuesday, Dec. 5, 5:00 - 7:00pm, E Moore Hall 

Spring 2017

1. Dumpling Making Workshop – Thursday, Feb. 9, 5:00 – 7:00pm, E Moore Hall
   - Learn how to make delicious Chinese dumplings from scratch and enjoy them too!

2. Calligraphy Workshop + Officer Election – Wednesday, March 22, 4:30pm at OGH 102
   - Take a Zen moment and learn how to write Chinese calligraphy and play Chinese Chess.

3. Chinese Movie – Wednesday, April 5, 4:30 – 7:00pm, Gluck Theater
   - Taichi practice followed by the Movie ‘Ip Man 3’ (co-sponsored by WVU Multi-culture Center). 

4. Year-end Party – Friday, April 28, 5:00-7:00pm at E Moore Hall
   - To congratulate our graduating seniors and celebrate all of our achievements this year!
